1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione #14049
365 GTB/4 #14049 was prepared for the 1972 Le Mans 4-hour race as a 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione for French gentleman racer Philippe Cornet-Epinat at Pozzi’s garage of Levallois. The vehicle was fitted with full fender flares, competition 9 inch front and 11 inch rear wheels and a roll bar. It was also fitted with front dive planes, grill screens for the cooling ducts, an outside fuel filler, rear brake air scoops, an engine cold air box and side exhaust as used on the Series III Factory cars. The engine was rebuilt, blue-printed, balanced and assembled with high compression pistons and P6 competition camshafts. The carburetors were modified with larger venturis and jets required for the ultra-high speeds of LeMans. In March 1972, Philippe Cornet-Epinat raced #14049 in the 4 Hours of Le Mans and finished 8th overall and 5th in GT with race #98.
The body was recently refinished by Motion Products of Neenah, Wisconsin. The bare chassis was sent to our workshop where the suspension and brakes were completely refinished and restored. A complete new competition suspension system by Roelofs Engineering including dampers, springs, sway bars were fitted. The vehicle's interior and exterior trimmings were procured and fitted as well. The vehicle was then assembled and race prepared for the 2015 Cavallino Classic.
